Welcome March!

Spring is finally on its way and Circumnavigators have a busy month in store. Here are some of the highlights and activities:

International Board of Governors

The Palm Beach Chapter will welcome the International Board of Governors for its March Meeting in southern Florida. The meeting and festivities will be held March 12-13 in Palm Beach. Thanks to the Chapter for hosting this event.

LOG Express and Ballot

albert316The LOG Express is on its way! Our semi-annual “express” publication will arrive this month with updates and stories about the Club. The LOG Express will officially announce the Annual Meeting at the Penn Club in New York City on Friday, May 20. The meeting and luncheon will feature a dramatic presentation from adventurer and author Albert Podell. The publication will also contain the ballot for the board members and officers. Mark your calendars for this great event.

scotkelly316Welcome Home, Scott Kelly!

Honorary Member and Magellan honoree Scott Kelly is expected to return to earth on March 1, after a record year in space. When receiving the Order of Magellan in 2012, Commander Kelly discussed his planned space odyssey, and now it has been completed. Time flies! More about Scott’s adventure will be reported in the LOG Express.
(Note: Scott and Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Korniyenko landed safely back to earth on Tuesday, March 2 in Kazakistan.)

anncompton316Naples Chapter event

Award-winning journalist Ann Compton, also an honorary member and Magellan awardee, will address the Naples Chapter at its monthly brunch meeting on Sunday, March 20. Ann, who covered seven Presidents, is bound to have an interesting slant on the current political scene.

Want to be a cover photographer?

Work has begun on our regular issue of the LOG, coming out early this summer. We are looking for story ideas and photos. Our photo spread and cover will feature shots of Italy, so send us one or two of your best Italy shots for consideration.

Are you a collector?

Also, Circumnavigator Katie Koontz will be doing an interesting article on items that members collect on their travels. Whether your collectibles are match books to sculpture, let Katie know what you like to collect. All info can be emailed to Tracy at headquarters (club@circumnavigators.org) or David at davidamink@me.com.

The Last Shot

Circumnavigator Sue Murphy has once again taken her club cap on the road to some interesting spots. Here it is in Papeete, French Polynesia.
